Hello World,
I find that our Facebook page to be too public for me to write without edit what is on my mind. So I choose my own site as my soap box. I am not a great writer so don't judge. I write as I would speak.
From time to time, I enjoy a glass of whiskey, amongst other things. I have found my doppelganger to be somewhat gregarious but still very reserved as not to embarrass me too much. So write away I will sipping on my daily dose of Bushmill's. For those that disagree with my vice, I also eat organic and support local foods and businesses. So hopefully there is something for everybody.
I started Urban Star a little over 4 years ago after having worked as the Business Director for Halftone Bodyworks. Halftone was one of those Asian importer bringing in "cheap" jewelry. Take it from me, it was not cheap. It was just not the grade of jewelry that APP would have you use which is 316 LVM. What people forget is that the medical industry has been using 316 L as implant grade stainless steel for over 30 years. It's just that a small but vocal group whom I respect very much for providing valuable information about body modification, to champion the best type of surgical steel available. Who can argue with best? I digress. Getting back to the point of this paragraph, I started Urban Star because the owner of Halftone was good enough to allow me to branch off into organics. Oh, BTW, Halftone produces the best PVD jewelry even above that of Industrial Strength. Sorry JD, it's the truth. Have any of you figured out that I may have ADD yet?
I started Urban Star because, I wanted to give the public, the people that I have been making jewelry for with Halftone for 6 years, an organic alternative that was fashionable and affordable. I think before USO, you had the generic, whatever stylings of import companies or the original designs of Quetzali, Maya, Tawapa(original), Oracle, Onetribe.....shit there is a lot, but at Wholefoods prices. Did you know that a dozen eggs at a farmer's market could be as much as $10? What I wanted to accomplish with USO was to provide original designs that would be affordable to more people. I think I've done that and want to continue doing that with your support.
There is something liberating about writing or speaking without a filter. There is a sense of empowerment to be able to do so in a world that is so very socially sensitive. I am also guilty of tip toeing around people's sensitivities and prejudices. That is why I have not come out of the closet until today. I am KOREAN. =) Samsung, Hyundai, LG, Kia, Lotte, Kimchi, AYCE KBBQ, Psy, Gangnam is all me.
Shit peeps, more about me later. I have to do my 2013 taxes. Yes 2013. I always file extensions.
If any of you have any questions go ahead and ask. My next post will be about Steel Navel www.steelnavel.com , one of my favorite Legit Retailers.
